P5: CONDUCT TESTING ON THE FINISHED INTERACTIVE MEDIA PRODUCT
Test Plan
To test the Ely App, I will ask a group of media students in my class to look and review the app, which will allow me to collect audience feedback on the app and from their feedback, see how well the app needs to appeal to the audience. I plan to collect feedback through a survey that I will create through SurveyMonkey. These are the questions I would like to ask:
1. Does the Ely app work internally? 2. Does the navigational features (tab bar) work successfully? 3. Does the content load?
The questions one, two and three are questions that relate to the functionality of the app and where the audience will be able to answer whether the app works internally to their standards and the content loads successfully.
4. Can you use the app with no problems with the navigational features?
Question four is important as a major requirement is that the product is not overly complex to use, so audience feedback will be helpful to know the level of usability when navigating around the Ely app.
5. Does the interactive features of the map and site buttons work successfully?
Within the app, there is more than two uses of interactive features but question five asks them if the features work when tested which will allow me to assess the user interaction.
6. How long does it take for the app and pages to load?
Question 6 focuses on the load times of pages and screens, which is useful as I would like the timings to be instant so the audience is not waiting for their information to load.
7. Does the app look complete?
It's important that the app looks professional, aesthetically pleasing and that the information the audience requires is present, which is where question seven will hopefully answer the completeness of the app overall.
8. Is the app accurate, for example, is it proofread, spellchecked, is the text readable with the background colour and does it have clarity?
All the information that is presented in the app must be readable, which is where question eight covers the accuracy of the app.
9. Is the app accessible and easy to use? For example, is it the text size clear?
Question nine covers the accessibility to the app, and where the app can be assessed on how easy it is to use, especially in the eyes of my target audience who may not use apps regularly.
10. How is the performance of the app? For example, is the app optimised for the platform?
The app should be optimised for the iphone 7 and question ten will cover the performance of the app and whether it works for that platform.

Audience Group Feedback For First Version Of The App
Clients and Audience Feedback
One part of my audience feedback states that on one page, the content is not as central as they would like. I had also noticed this and would too like to fix this so the alignment matches the other pages, making the app consistent.
On the tab bar, both myself and my audience had noticed that one of the icons was not present. This I would like to improve so it becomes clear to the app users what that page leads to and to give a complete repsentation. However, the audience comments how they still understand what the page is about due to the icon label.
I asked my audience whether they would prefer a full screen map or a smaller version, to which they said a full screen but gave the feedback of adding further pinpoints of the map of other restaurants and locations.
Overall, they said that the app is readable but would prefer a slightly bigger text size where there are long lengths of text. Further feedback that was given was to add another interactive feature of a scroll as this would be nice when helping the user to view the text clearer.
What I Will Change In The App As A Result Of The Feedback
I would like to change the appearance of the app slightly, as the feedback I received was that the alignment of some of the images and text could be improved stop be more central. Although the app's performance is successful and the content/interactive features work, I think the look of the app is also important as it is what draws the audience in.
One of icons had disappeared when I loaded and tested the app with the audience. I would like to change this as it would help the user navigate.
I would like to change the map to improve the interactivity for the users as I was told that more than one pointer on the map would also help the tourists understand the area of Ely.
Similar to the positioning of the text, I would like to change the text size so it becomes easier for the user to read the text and to possibly add a scroll so not so much text is presented at once.
How I Will Make These Changes
I will make the changes to the alignment of the needed images and text by fixing the missing constraints and making sure the content has equal widths and equal heights. This will hopefully then display everything central and will give a more professional appearance overall.
The Ely Cathedral icon did not load so I will make sure the icon has the three correct sizes. If this still fails to work, I will check that the icons are connected to the view controller of that page.
To add more pointers on the full screen map, I would collect the longitude and latitude of another location then code in the view controller in what I would like the pinpoint to say, for example, the 'Pizza Express, Ely'.
I will make the changes of making the text clearer by changing the size and when I shorten the text box size in height, this will allow the user to scroll when they click on the text.

Responses From Audience Feedback Video
01:54 - Hannah explains how she has noticed on one page (Ely Cathedral page) there is quite a lot of text and how it may be difficult for someone with poor eyesight to read the text. 02:49 - Hannah suggests for improvements that there could be a promotional video within the app. 02:55 - Chessie explains that there could be less text on the Ely Cathedral page or even separate the information and organise into folders so the user can click on them instead of having all the information on one page. 03:06 - Sarah suggests to include more features that will appeal to the younger years of my target audience.
What will change in result of the feedback?
If I was to improve, the first thing I would change is the amount of text on the Ely Cathedral page, as it is important for the audience to read the text with no problems and therefore making the app easy to use. I do not know how to add folders with x-code software but it would be useful and beneficial for the users to access relevant information that has been organised into folders. This would mean there would be a suitable amount of text on each page. The lowest age of my target audience is 20 year olds, so to make sure it appeals to each person, I would add more features that would appeal to them, for example, the location of shops that they would be interested in.
How will I make these changes?
To make the pages easier to read, I would simply change the font size and possibly break up the paragraphs more by including images. I would learn how the code the folders, if there is a interactive elements of them and then position them on the view controller. If there are no folders, I would make buttons on the pages and link them to further pages where the information is categorised. On the map, I would add coordinates for the pinpoints of shops that 20 year olds and above would shop at, and possibly add a further page that is dedicated for one of the top shops in Ely. This would then hopefully keep the younger audience members interested in the app.
