What are the pros and cons of having 1 company delivering the news via different methods?
If one company delivered the news they would have complete control over what we read, listen and watch of the news. Therefore, they would have the advantage to manipulate the broadcast and coverage to suit their bias, as well as deciding what is a newsworthy event. This one company would also have no news company competitors and are in a position to maximise profit. The disadvantages of one company delivering the news would be the potential for reduced audiences due to dislike or non-belief in the accuracy of the news. It would impact the readers negatively if the company had technical issues and couldn't deliver the news online and would also halt broadcasting.
Advantages
Easy for readers - there will be one version of the news
There will be a specific audience to target
Disadvantages
The one version of the news could be bias or incorrect
The audience would only have one news to go by
