P3: DEVELOP IDEAS FOR SOUND ELEMENTS FOR AN IDENTIFIED PURPOSE

Formulate And Create An Idea For Your Audio Production
For the chapter five of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein, my idea is to begin with eerie background music that has low tones and possibly wavers to create anxiety in the atmosphere I want to set. The sound effects of wind, rain and possibly distant thunder will add to the atmosphere, creating a sense of danger. As the narrator begins and continues onto the second paragraph, I think the sound effects should get louder, as well as the music, all becoming intense, with sound effects and the music overpowering and building up. This will represent that something, inhuman, is awakening and will cause the listeners to be wary and feel fear. The narrator will voice the chapter in dramatic and thrilling tones, causing a sense of madness and in paragraph three, showing the disturbing and tense string of emotions. The music however calms when Frankenstein meets his friend later in the chapter, where another actor will portray the character in a way that is concerned, also showing that the danger is over.
Meeting The Brief
The idea I have meets the brief as there will be one actor to narrate the chapter, which they will read in various paces and tones of fast and dark, as well as light and slow, presenting the emotions of the character and mood of the chapter. The sound effects (such as lighting, footsteps, heart beating) will be original help and will help the audience visualise the story, in terms of what the characters are doing, and their surroundings.
The final product will be distributed on Youtube and Sound Cloud, which is free to do so. However, the client is BBC Radio 4, meaning they may want to broadcast on their station or upload onto their own podcast website, gaining a wider audience. To avoid legal issues, I need to make sure the voice actors sign the voice over release form, allowing to have complete ownership of the product.
